No-exam life insurance
Carriers now often skip the physical exam for qualified applicants: eligibility requirements, how the process works, and what happens when you do not qualify.
Many insurers offer accelerated underwriting for applicants within age and amount ranges: they render decisions on the application itself, MIB records, and consumer databases rather than scheduling a doctor visit. Some approvals come through within 24 hours. Every quote on this site shows whether an exam is waived, may be needed, or is required.
What it changes
Accelerated underwriting is not the same as skipping underwriting. Your answers are reviewed; a policy issued based on false answers may be challenged within the first two years. Carriers may still request testing if their records suggest it; you are free to decline and continue or exit.
Who tends to qualify
Generally people under age 60, applying for amounts within the carrier's accelerated limit, with no serious medical history and no tobacco use within the past 12 months. If you have had a recent check-up with lab results, some insurers will use those records in place of a new exam.
When an exam is required, a paramedic usually comes to your Torrance home or office for 30 to 45 minutes at no expense to you. For healthy applicants, favorable exam results can often raise your rate class, making the exam less of a burden.
